On the freighter, a crew member catches Sayid's attention. His name is Kevin Johnson. Sayid recognizes him. It's Michael. Michael Dawson. The man who killed Ana Lucia and Libby.

Flashback. Michael in New York. After the island. He left Walt behind. Guilt devours him. He tries to kill himself. In a car. Full speed. He survives. He tries with a gun. The weapon jams. Tom, one of the Others, finds him. "The island won't let you die."

Ben offers him a mission: infiltrate Widmore's freighter. Sabotage it. Stop the freighter from reaching the island. Michael accepts. Not for Ben. To redeem himself. He boards under the name Kevin Johnson. Sayid exposes him to the captain. Michael is burned. Redemption will be more complicated than expected.
