Mr. Eko

Eko was a drug lord in Nigeria. As a child, he killed a man to protect his brother Yemi. Yemi became a priest. Eko became a criminal. Two opposite destinies born from the same moment.

On the island, Eko acts like a priest. He builds a church. He prays. He seeks forgiveness. But he refuses to lie about what he was. "I have not sinned," he says. "I did what I had to do to survive."

The smoke monster confronts him. In the form of Yemi. It demands repentance. Eko refuses. The monster kills him. Eko dies standing. Without regret. One of the most memorable characters in the series. Gone too soon.
