Shannon has an asthma attack. Her inhalers are missing. Everyone suspects Sawyer. He's got the whole stash hidden in his tent. Sawyer doesn't deny it. He provokes.

Sayid takes action. Rough interrogation. Sawyer takes the beating. He finally confesses to Kate: he never had the inhalers. He just wanted everyone to hate him. It's easier that way.

In flashback, the truth explodes. Sawyer is a con man. His name is fake. He stole it from the man who destroyed his family. He became what he hated most.
